Blog 2 on reading

Photography and art use to be based on religion. As the article said it is more about politics now. I think that its not all about politics though. It is more about politics than religion today. It has become more about what the artist makes it. People are making art and photographs about everything these days. Digital photography has helped to move that along like film did when this was written. I also think digital has made art less about religion and less about politics too. Today photograph is so much different than when this article was written. In the past religion was a huge part of art now it has faded away. Politics have sorta taken its place and many other things have become part of art as well. People make art about world problems today.

The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

This article is talking about art being reproduced. In years earlier art was not reproduced one reason may have been because it was harder to do to reproduce. In today’s time it has become so much simpler. I think that the techniques have been copied or reproduced like when a new technique comes out everyone wants to know how it is done. But the actual image was not always. Now with the technology that we have it has made it a lot easier. People can go online and just take the image and make it their own. Many people go to the same spot as another person in photography wise to try and get the image. Before all the technology came about like it said in the article the only form of art was brass and copper. I think many people want to become like the person that made the image in art or photograph and they just copy the kind of work that they do or even an image that they have. With the portrait world the poses are almost the same to become someone you have to come up with something new. When portrait photography began one person had a pose that they were know for and it has become a pose that is well known now. The same way with the way the portrait is edited I look at the studios near my house and they are all using about the same amount of saturation in their photographs because they have saw someone else use it and copied it. I think most of anything these days have become a reproduction many songs you hear on the radio are remakes of songs in the 70’s and 80’s.
